Isaiah was a state champion wrestler as a junior and senior and placed seventh as freshman and third as a sophomore. He helped his team to a fifth place finish at state in 2015. He earned four varsity letters for wrestling and four Central Iowa Metropolitan League Academic Recognition awards. He also received the Bob Darrah Most Valuable award, the Bob Hallman Award for most improved, the Jack Wahlig and Vonnie Hess awards and was named Athlete of the Year in 2015.
In football he earned three varsity letters and helped his team win two state titles in 2014 and 2015. He also won two Central Iowa Metropolitan League Academic Recognition awards.
He went on to attend the University of Northern Iowa where he wrestled as Division 1 Athlete for five years. He earned two Academic All Big 12 First Team awards, the Lyle E. Schwarzenbach Award for Exhibiting the highest standards in Citizenship, Academics, Practices, and Dedication, and was awarded a spot in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
He graduated with bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and is an artist whose work has been exhibited in the Waterloo Center of the Arts and the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. In 2021 he opened Honey and Vinegar Tattoos, a tattoo studio located in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where he lives with his wife Karna and their son Ouroboros.
Isaiah remembers how much the people felt like family during his time at Dowling Catholic. It was a truly beautiful experience with many, many highs and some lows that helped prepare him for college and life. The staff and his peers hold a big place in his heart and he will be forever grateful for the countless gifts he received.
