John Waggoner

John was a football team captain and helped his team to three state championship titles in 2015, 2016 and 2017. He was named to the Des Moines Register Elite All State team in 2017 and was INA First Team All State in 2016 and 2017.

He went on to play football at the University of Iowa where his team finished as the Big Ten West Champion in 2021. He was a four-year letter winner with 27 consecutive starts at defensive end in 2021-2022. He was a member of the defensive unit that was second nationally in scoring defense in 2022. He earned recognition four times as Academic All Big 10, was a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and was named to the NFF Hampshire Honor Society. He also served as a member of the Iowa Player Council and was the recipient of the Team Hustle Award in 2022.

He currently lives in Clive, Iowa, and is engaged to Jenna Printy. 

John's favorite memory from his time at Dowling Catholic is the experience of winning state championships with his teammates and coaches and building lasting relationships while doing it.
