She earned Central Iowa Metropolitan League Academic Recognition and set the school record in 1996 for most assists in a single game with 14. She was the leading scorer in the state championship game in 1996 where her team won the state title.

She went on to play basketball at St. Ambrose University where she earned a degree in psychology and a master’s in Occupational Therapy. She currently serves as Vice President of Clinical Services at Blue Stone Therapy in Urbandale, Iowa. She and her husband Mark Bliss ‘96 have twin boys, Colin and Patrick, who are juniors at Dowling Catholic.

Christen’s best memory at DCHS was winning the state championship in 1996. She is honored to have played basketball for coaches Bob and Sharon Hanson. They prided themselves in playing team basketball and no single player was a star. Many from that team went on to play college sports.
