To foster a good mentoring relationship between high school and elementary age females.
An organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. Grades 9-12.
Students are matched with an elementary student through the Big Brothers, Big Sisters Organization. Matches meet one-on-one at the child's elementary school for 30-60 minutes each week after school. The goal is to build a relationship to help increase the child's self-confidence and improve academic performance. Students must go through the Big Brothers, Big Sisters Organization to be matched and must provide their own transportation.
The members are charged with taking residents of Bishop Drumm to and from mass, visit with residents, participate as an usher, reader, song leader, and /or Eucharistic minister.
An all-school project led by the senior class to assist needy families during the holiday. Grades 9-12.
After school small group focused on the investment of safety, education, and economic empowerment of young women in our school.
Develop young people’s commitment to support their community through volunteer efforts. Grades 9-12.
Educates and promotes eco-friendliness in the DCHS community. Promotes recycling and provides outreach in the Des Moines community through eco-inspired projects.
An annual all-school project (typically on a Sunday in the fall) to raise money for or serve a worthy cause. The project is coordinated by the Leadership Team, which consists of seniors. Grades 9-12.
Work in partnership with God and volunteers to eliminate poverty housing. Grades 9-12.
A club where young women can grow together in community and faith as they learn to imitate Mary, the Mother of God, in the virtues of humility, joy, charity, simplicity, obedience and purity.
A student-led group which provides service opportunities to help various organizations in and around Des Moines.
Assisting with liturgies as lectors and ministers of the Eucharist. Grades 9-12.
A men’s group focused on prayer, fraternity, and growth in the spiritual life. The group is committed to personal conversion, authentic manhood, and serving God and the Dowling Catholic community.
Assist throughout the school and community. Students are trained in listening skills, communication, problem-solving, decision-making and how to recognize and direct potential problems to those who are qualified to help.
An international organization that develops leadership, cultural awareness and peace. Grades 9-12.
An organization that helps the children of families who attend an ELL (English Language Learner) class at Trinity United Methodist Church in Des Moines, IA.
Help coach and interact with special needs adults participating in swimming and track from March - May. Grades 9-12. Volunteers are required to a one-hour clinic to work with athletes.
An organization intended to help students grow in their faith and find the face of Jesus, especially in the poor.
An organization promoting the Catholic Church’s teaching on the consistent ethic of respecting all human life from conception to natural death.
Assisting the work of Terra Livre in Goiania, Brazil. Students work to understand the poverty of Brazil and in solidarity attempt to eliminate poverty here at home. Some years a trip to Goiania is planned for Spring Break.
Raise awareness, funds, and interest in helping veterans from all wars who suffer physically, mentally, and emotionally. Also, raise awareness and remembrance for the lost men and women of all wars and national tragedies.
