Q.  How can I access my "G" drive to save and retrieve documents?

A.  To access your "G" drive go to my computer and select your name (first letter of your first name and your last name on Dowlingsvr...).  Double click and you should now be in your "G" drive.

 

Q.  Do I need to be online to access my "G" drive?

A.  Yes.

 

Q.  How can I tell if I am online when I am using a computer?

A.  There should be a little red key in the lower right hand corner of the computer you are using.

 

Q.  Can I print multiple copies of handouts for classroom presentations from the library printers?

A.  No.  You may print one copy for you to use to photocopy the number of other handouts needed for the classroom project.

 

Q.  What does the flashing light mean on the color printer?

A.  It could mean it is out of paper or it needs a new ink cartridge.  See someone at the circulation desk for assistance.

 

Q.  My teacher wants a copy of my PowerPoint presentation.  How can I print more than one slide on a piece of paper?

A.  You must be in PowerPoint.  Click on File, click on Print and the dialog box will open.  Look for and open Print what: Click on handouts.  Under handouts open slides per page, select 4 or 6 and click OK.

 

Q.  Do I shutdown or restart the computer I am using when I am finished?

A.  Restart the computer.

 

Q.  I am having trouble with my Novell login.  How should I troubleshoot this problem?

A.  Check your username and password.  Your username can only be eight digits and your password can only be five digits.

 

Q.  I am still having trouble.  Is there anything else I should check?

A.  Yes.  Click on Advance and check the context.  Context needs to be Students.DHS.  For teachers the context needs to be Staff.DHS

 

Q.  Who do I see if I am having trouble with my Edline account?

A.  Go to the principal's office and speak with the principal's secretary.  She will assist and guide you.

 

Q.  Who do I see if I have questions about my Novell username and password?

A.  See Ms. Smith in the LMC.  She will refer you to the computer technology person if necessary.

 

Q.  I am a new student at DCHS.  How can I get a Novell username and password?

A.  See Ms. Smith in the media center for assistance.

 

Q.  I forget my username and password.  Can I get it for next period?

A.  No.  There is a 24 hour turn around time period.  You must fill out a form, submit it to Ms. Smith and it will be ready for pick up the next day.

 

Q.  I need to make 20 copies of the same sheet.  Can I put twenty dimes in all at once?

A.  No.  The copy machine will only take one dime at a time.

 

Q.  I need to make a two sided copy.  Can I print a two sided copy from the library copy machine?

A.  No.  Only one sided copies can be printed.
