Ron Gray's Bio
Coach Ron Gray is a 1973 graduate of Dowling Catholic High School. Coach Gray competed in wrestling and became Dowling’s 1st state place winner. He attended Black Hawk Junior College in Moline, IL and became a junior college All-American in wrestling in 1975. Coach Gray then competed for Illinois State University in Normal, IL and qualified for the NCAA Wrestling Tournament in 1977. Coach Gray graduated from Drake University with a BSE in Education. Coach Gray has taught and coached at Dowling for 30 years. He has coached Boy’s Track and Wrestling in the past. For the past 20 years, he has coached the Boy’s Golf team. As head coach, coach Gray’s teams have won 5 state titles, two state runners-up teams, and three third place finishes. In all, 13 teams placed in the top 10 at state over those 20 years. In addition, there have been three individual state champions. He has also coached teams to 13 Conference titles in 20 years. Under coach Gray, Dowling Catholic has had 7 Conference Champions in golf.
