The Mission of Dowling Catholic Swimming & Diving

 

Being a member of the Dowling Catholic High School Swimming & Diving Team means you have made a commitment to excellence. The Board of Education and Administration has provided us with one of the finest swimming and diving facilities in the area, along with the best equipment.

 

The coaching staff has made a commitment to provide the school with a total training program.  It is your choice then as to whether or not you want to be part of our team.  The coaching staff will be asking you to make many sacrifices, not only for the good of the team, but also for your own individual development as a swimmer or diver. You must remember that our primary goals are to get good grades, win swim meets and to improve our individual performances. Iowa is one of the most competitive swimming and diving states in the nation and if we are to reach our goals, our program must be better than any other high school in Iowa. The team is open to all ninth through twelfth grade students who are enrolled at Dowling Catholic High School. Some knowledge of swimming is important as this is not a learn-to-swim program. Each participant must have a willingness to work hard, be coachable and try to be the best they can be.

 

DCHS Athletics will put a tremendous emphasis on respect, sportsmanship and class.  Our coaches, parents, faculty, staff, alumni and student-athletes represent Dowling Catholic here at school, in the community and around the state of Iowa. We have a responsibility, being involved in a school Centered on Christ, to treat people with respect and to be good role models while at the same time competing at a high level as a team.

 

This school is special because we can be the best in terms of respect, sportsmanship and class while still competing at the state’s highest levels of competition.
